Demographics Definition
What are Demographics?
Demographics definition: demographics are sub-sections of the population that are group by socio-economic data.
Demographic groups are created using combinations of data including – but not limited to – the following:
- Gender
- Age
- Race
- Location
- Income
- Employment status
- Purchasing behavior
The demographic data is then used to make marketing, advertising, and product decisions. The data is also useful in creating buyer personas.
For example:
Sony may collect demographic data of the people most likely to buy their PlayStation console. They would then run a Facebook advertising campaign targeted directly to these people.
