What is a Generic Brand?

Generic brand definition: generic brand refers to products that are not easy to recognize or differentiate from their competitors because they have no strong branding.

Generic brand products are usually offered at a lower price than their branded competitors. This can result in a fluctuation in the price of products or services.

Generic brands are often also referred to as “home brand” products because they are offered under the name of the shop that sells them.

Oreo cookies have a strong brand surrounding their products. Thinking of them can conjure thoughts of campaigns and slogans, like “Twist, Lick, Dunk.”
